Mission, Vision and Objectives

The primary mission of CIBERNED is to promote excellent scientific and technical research in the field of health and to generate knowledge that can be quickly and safely translated both into the national healthcare system and the biotechnological industry. Our research objective is to contribute to improving the health and well-being of patients with neurodegenerative diseases, as well as that of their families and caregivers, while also providing economic and social benefits. Our specific objectives include:

• Promoting and developing excellent translational cooperative research in neurodegenerative diseases.
• Encouraging the rapid and safe translation of scientific advancements into the healthcare system and patient well-being.
• Enhancing participation in coordinated actions with other areas of medical and technological knowledge, promoted by international and national funding agencies.
• Facilitating the development of new therapeutic and/or preventive interventions, as well as clinical guidelines for diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures.
• Establishing and maintaining strategically valuable technological platforms and infrastructures (biobanks, neuroimaging, DEGESCO, ALGESCO, etc.) for the development of research on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
• Designing and implementing training and technical development plans for personnel engaged in basic experimental research at different educational stages, as well as for clinical research personnel involved in healthcare tasks.
• Engaging society in the results of the significant financial effort deployed for the study of these diseases and the medical and socio-economic impact of neurodegenerative diseases, facilitating and promoting their involvement in society's fight against neurodegeneration.
